The artists, Lady A and Journey, are awesome, I must say first. Obviously so... or we would not have attended the concert. The concert was ruined by how incredibly high the bass was set, I thought. There was entirely too much bass that overpowered and basically squelched out the excellent vocals that both entertainers are so greatly known for. I hope this review goes to the Sovereign Center or whomever is responsible for setting up the speakers, acoustics, etc. Perhaps each band has their separate folks setting up the acoustics. If you were not a Lady A fan to begin with, I suspect you walked away from there not really getting to appreciate them for what they are. Lady A fan as I am, I was so looking forward to hearing them belt out their tunes, and was so totally disappointed. I could barely tell which song they were singing at first because the bass was drowning them out. Journey's portion seemed to be a bit better, but I still thought the bass was drowning him out. He was, however, a real crowd pleaser and a genuine pleasure to watch and listen to. He really gets the crowd going. And of course, he is so easy to watch and seems very genuine in his delivery and love of his music... and it clearly shows with his enthusiasm. Love the small venue at Sovereign and have seen many a concert there. Perhaps that has something to do with the acoustic quality, or lack thereof, but there definitely is not a bad seat in the house, which is why we continue to go.
